Originally born in Moldova in Eastern Europe, Alona Sukhina moved to the U.S. as a refugee as a toddler. Early in life she discovered a love for science and medicine and was fortunate to pursue a medical degree at the University of Arizona. After graduating from pediatric residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, she worked as a primary care pediatrician at a public health clinic dedicated to serving immigrants and underserved populations around her home town of Tucson, Arizona.

 She is excited to transition to British Columbia and continue practicing medicine as a pediatrician. Her interests include treating mental health disorders, refugee health, asthma, eczema, and newborn care through her holistic approach and family-centered medicine.

 Outside of work, she enjoys exploring beautiful British Columbia with her husband and dog, Ayla.
